George Washington Surrender At Yorktown Medal. 1881. White metal, 50.5 mm, Uncirculated with prooflike surfaces, small rim nick on the obverse. Struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle at Yorktown. Washington and Lafayette right, 1881 below. The reverse depicts the surrender. Engraved by P.L. Krider of Philadelphia. This medal was probably the inspiration for the obverse of the Lafayette Dollar.
