Anonymous. AE Cast Sextans (35.4g), 3rd Century BC. Etrurian or Umbrian mint. Club. Reverse: Two pellets. ICC 199; Thurlow & Vecchi 172; Haeberlin pl. 81, 36-41; HN Italy 54. Nice dark green patina on both sides. Very Fine.
According to Vecchi, ICC p. 52, if one disregards outliers, the clustering of find spots of these oval-shaped coins centers on Etruscan Volsinii, which may be their source rather than Umbria, the traditional assignment by numismatists. Estimated Value $300 - 350
