Ptolemaic Kingdom. Ptolemy II Philadelphos. ? 29 (19.6), 285-246 BC. Sicilian mint, probably Syracuse, under Hieron II, ca. 265 BC. Laureate head of Zeus right. Reverse: BA?I?E?? ?TO?EMAIOY, eagle standing left on thunderbolt; in left field, Galatian shield. Svoronos 610; SNG Copenhagen 114. Dark brown patina with some lighter highlights. Virtually as struck. Nearly Mint State.
