Judaea City Coinage. Phoenicia, Berytus. Hadrian. Æ 23 (11.52 g), 117-138 CE. 128-138 CE. IMP CAES TRAI HADRIANVS AVG P P, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian right. Reverse: COL BER, two legionary eagles within wreath. Cf. Sawaya 1087/1091 (D209/R422; die combination not recorded); Rouvier 532; SNG Copenhagen 100 (same obv. die); BMC 97; RPC 3855. Dark green and brown patina with sandy highlights. Very Fine.
It is possible that this coin is Sawaya 1089, with obverse die D209 and uncertain reverse die. Unfortunately, the coin is not illustrated.
