The coinage of Ismail al-Mansur is among the most attractive and rare in the Fatimid series. His short reign was spent in putting down rebellions in Qayrawan and Sicily. This coin comes from the port town of al-Mahdiya on the western coast of Tunisia, named after al-Mahdi, the first Fatimid caliph.
