ABBASID: al-Saffah, 749-754, AV dinar (4.23g), NM (as always), AH132, A-210, lovely strike, EF, RRR. This is first year of the Abbasid coinage, occasionally available for the silver dirham al-Kufa 132, but extremely rare for all other examples. There is no mint name on this piece, a tradition maintained for the gold dinars throughout the Abbasid caliphate until the year AH198. The actual locations of the dinar mints prior to AH170 remain undetermined.
