DELHI: Muhammad III, 1325-1351, AV tanka (10.91g), "Delhi ", blundered date, G-D428, contemporary imitation, few small nicks, VF to EF, R. About 15 similar examples were found in a large Mamluk hoard of about 420 gold coins, with a terminal date of about AH820. The hoard was allegedly found in Israel or Palestine (never published). The origin of the imitations has never been determined, but they were likely produced in what is today either Iraq, Syria or Jordan.
