1808/7 C-2 R3 Overdate 8 over 7 PCGS graded VF20. Chocolate brown and steel blending to olive brown in protected areas while the highpoints are a lighter shade of steel brown. The surfaces appear smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals uniform extremely faint granularity. No verdigris and the only mark is a small planchet chip at the base of the F in OF. 1808/7 C-2 R3 Overdate 8 over 7 VG10. A couple points sharper with a few dozen dull pinprick marks on the obverse, mostly on the portrait and hidden in the hair. Otherwise this piece is choice and the eye appeal is excellent. Glossy medium chocolate fading to olive brown in protected areas. The devices are a lighter shade of steel brown. 1808 C-3 R1 NGC graded VF30. Glossy steel and medium chocolate brown with subtle overtones of light sea-green and bluish steel. The surfaces are smooth and the only marks are some trivial ticks of no significance. M-LDS, Manley state 4.0, with a die crack from the dentils through the I in UNITED to the leaf below. The reverse is rotated 15 degrees CW. Our grade is VF20.

1809 C-1 R7+ (as a die state) AG3. A couple points sharper but covered with light to moderate roughness on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. No verdigris. The only mark is a dull dent in the center of the obverse that caused a faint bulge in the center of the reverse over EN in CENT. Sharpness VF35 or slightly better but there is a vertical scratch in the field behind the portrait and a lighter scratch on the portrait from the hair above the T in LIBERTY to the chin and slightly beyond into the field. 1809 C-4 R2 Large 0 over Small 0 ANACS graded VF35. Glossy olive brown and steel with slightly lighter toning on the highpoints. Excellent eye appeal, but there are a few minor marks. The notable ones are a shallow planchet flake at the dentils above the back of the head (as struck) and some tiny nicks on the reverse at the E & C in AMERICA. Nicely struck EDS, Manley state 1.0. 1809 C-6 R1 ANACS graded EF40. Rotated Reverse. Nice glossy chocolate brown. No roughness, only a few light contact marks. The only notable defect is a light rim bruise over the A in STATES. M-LDS, Manley state 4.0, with the reverse rotated 50 degrees CW. Our grade is VF30. The attribution is noted on the ANACS label.

1810 C-1 R1 PCGS graded AU50. Choice frosty medium chocolate brown with steel brown toning on the highpoints and lustrous golden tan faded down from mint color in protected areas. There is very little actual wear on this half cent but the dies were well worn when this piece was struck. 1811 C-1 R6 (with the 4-Star Cud) VF20. Sharpness VF35 but there are numerous fine scratches on the obverse, mostly on the portrait, a rim nick under star 11, and shallow scrapes around HALF CENT. The toning is an attractive glossy medium chocolate brown and the naked-eye appeal of this piece is excellent.
