1875 Half Dollar Octagonal Indian. Breen and Gillio-946, Rarity 4. NGC graded MS-62. The so-called "Written Date" variety due to the slanting design of the digits of the date. This is a conditionally desirable example with only two pieces graded higher at NGC. Struck on a green-gold flan, now with peach-gold patina visible on each side. Pop 6; 2 finer, 1 in 64, 1 in 65.
