lot # 641 - united states liberty cents
1846 N-25 R5 Tall Date with Repunched 1 F15. Glossy dark chocolate brown with light chocolate toning covering the devices. No corrosion or verdigris, but there are tiny contact marks scattered over both sides, none notable. A good identifying mark is a thin vertical nick in the field just left of the forelock. MDS, die state b. Crumbling connects three dentils under the end of the wreath stem. The line through the center of the upright of the 1 is clear. A rare variety that is extremely difficult to find in high grade. This piece is tied for CC#4 honors in the Grellman census.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
