lot # 703 - World Coins Rhodesia & Nyasaland
1959, RHODESIA & NYASALAND. 'POSTAGE DUE' handstamp on QEII 1d definitive, diagonally in violet. Creased, fine unmounted. RARE. See SG footnoteNote: the vast majority of these handstamps originated from a sheet purchased at the time, and subsequently sold to Bridger and Kay in London. All of these then received their violet stamp on the reverse. Very few examples have been recorded without this handstamp, and therefore one can assume that they were acquired from the post office postage due counter. The only other example we have encountered was similarly creased. Position of stamp being: Row 2 number 8. BRIDGER. Certificate 173. $ 250
