KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm 15.17 g, 2 h), struck under Seleukos I Nikator, Babylon I, c. 311-300. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on high-backed throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; in field to left, MHTP monogram within wreath; under throne, MI. Price 3747. SC 82.5b. Toned and with a bold portrait struck in high relief. Good very fine.
