Imperial: 1895-1897 Imperial Reservist Flask. A particularly nice example. Glass circular body with screw thread neck. Overlaid by 3 piece tinned pewter sheet cover with applied & painted central plaque: Red shoulder strap bearing brass crown over '87'. Painted scroll 'Res Schafer 8 Cp'. Details also painted in indicating awarded to Reservist Schafer of the 8th Coy of the 1st Nassau Inf Regt, No. 87 based at Mainz 1895-1897. Pewter screw cap/cup bearing crest of spread winged eagle comp with its original twisted cord suspension strap. VGC.
