GREAT MONGOLS: Chingiz Khan, 1206-1227, AE broad khani dirham (4.75g), [Marghinan], ND, A-1968M, without mint and date, citing only the caliph al-Nasir on obverse, the kalima on reverse, arranged as on the Qarakhanid dirham of Marghinan 602, unpublished and perhaps unique, Fine to VF, RRRR. The only late Qarakhanid copper dirham of Marghinan is in the name of Husam al-Din Qutlugh Toghan Khaqan on the obverse (type A-3424). This piece is of identical design and arrangment, but is totally anonymous except for the name of the caliph al-Nasir. It was likely struck during the lifetime of Chingiz Khan, judging by style and calligraphy.
