1904, Russo-Japanese War, Information Office on Prisoners of War: postage free envelope with three line violet "Service / des Prisonniers de Guerre" from "Tokio 12 Sep 04. Petersburg/Russia and fwd., russian backstamps of October 4, 5 and 7, 1904 (julian calendar).. Envelope two horizontal creases and part stain on reverse. Embossed paper seal white on scarlet bilingual "Bureau des Reinseignements sur les prisonniers de guerre". From this office, covers of the 1904/05 conflict are much scarcer than from WWI.
