1845. Stampless envelope (bends) written from Bahia dated '7th Nov 1845' addressed to London, sent on the steamer "Nimes" routed via Cowes with framed 'Ship Letter/Cowes' in black on reverse (Robertson S3) with London arrival '22nd Dec' and charged the uniform ship letter rate of '8d' after 1840.
