1874/75: De La Rue composite Essay, stamp size on thick card, with "GOLD COAST" and "POSTAGE / ONE PENNY" all hand-painted in deep blue on Chinese white with central vignette showing the De La Rue head-plate printed in blue. Not illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection". Two small stains do not detract from the appearance of an exquisite and unique archival Proof.
