Cape of Good Hope Used in Basutoland 1896: Cape ½ s. on 1 d. brown postal stationery card up-rated with ½ grey-black (Gi 48a) used to Natal, tied by MASERU / BASUTOLAND cds (June 17) in black. GPO / Natal arrival cds (June 21) on reverse alongside interesting message - "Sir, Basutoland stamps are similar to those of Cape Colony, both in description and values" and signed by the Maseru Postmaster. Central bend but a most attractive usage.
