First Issue, overprinted in lower case 1885/87: Cape 2 d. pale bistre, a single and a horizontal strip of three, used on 1887 cover from Vryburg to St. Germans, Cornwall tied by poor strikes of "555" numeral obliterator. Reverse with Vryburg despatch cds (Jan 1), Cape Town transit cds (Jan 5) and squared circle arrival datestamp of St. Germans (Jan 26) in black. Back flap missing, vertical crease and age spots but a rare first issue cover.
