lot # 841 - neusuedwales
1856: Perkins Bacon Die Proof for the Diadem 2 d. value printed in deep blue, engraved on thin white unwatermarked ungummed paper, with clear to just shaved margins all round; with some excessive inking to the Queen's face and spotting in blue on the neck. Rare - there is a possibility this was piulled for the 1867 Paris or 1872 South Kensington exhibition - if so, only three examples were struck, one being housed in the British Library.
