1858: 2 d. blue, plate 9, used on a registered cover in combination with 1863 4 d. pale red, plate 4, with hair lines, 1864 1 d. red, plate 73, 1865 3 d. rose, plate 4 and horizontal pair 1865 6 d. lilac, plate 5, with hyphen, from London to Canada, dated 19 June 1865, cancelled by a London '15' upright oval in black, with red framed handstamp 'Lombard Street / A / Registered Letter' in red and London registered oval also in red alongside. To the reverse a Hamilton circular arrival datestamp in black (28 June 1865). Correctly franked at the 1s 4d rate plus 6d registration (1s 10d). A spectacular five colour mixed franking. Rare. The largest number of different values and colours on a pre-UPU cover recorded in the Karl Louis card index. Cert. BPA (2003) & Richter (1994).
