1881 (Dec 13): 1 d. lilac, wmk. Crown, perf. 14, used on cover, from London to Darlington, dated 13 January 1886, tied by the very rare 'Bedford St. Bow WC' Hoster Machine cancel in black, Code 'Z' . To the reverse a Winston and Darlington cds both in black (January 14). Part of flap missing and torn which has caused a small amount of top of envelope to be missing just above the adhesive which is unaffected. The rarest of all Hoster cancels. Seldom available. This cover is one of two examples with the 'Z' code and one of five known (Dubus Type 47).
