1857-1881: Interesting select accumulation of unused (13) and used (7) surface printed issues, including specimen stamps, imperforate, colour trial, two unused blocks of four (2) and varieties. Amongst others; 1862 4 d. bright red plate 3 unused (SG 79) with large part og. has surface rub (BPA cert.), two unused examples of the 1881 1 d. lilac one with the "PEARS / SOAP" advertisement (Spec. K8l) on reverse (mounted to front) and another in a deep purple shade with the variety "Printed Both Sides" (SG 173a) with large part og. (RPSL cert.), a used 1880 1 s. orange-brown plate 13 wmk. spray lettered AC with variety "Watermark Inverted" (BPA cert.) has corner crease however very scarce (ex Grant Collection, Spink 25 Sept. 2003, lot 2321), 1880 4 d. grey-brown plate 17 and 18 wmk. crown unused (imperfections), an 1867 9 d. straw plate 4 with cds cancel (SG 111), a 1880 lightly used 4 d. grey-brown plate 17 wmk. large garter (SG 154) and 1881 3 d. rose plate 20 wmk. crown very fresh unused (SG 158) and others. Some flaws and the odd fault. However a rare and valuable assembly of choice items (20) Gi = £ 13'365.
