Niger Coast Protectorate 1894: OPOBO Provisional '½' in red on right side of vertical half of 1 d. pale blue, an unused example, vibrant colour. Has vertical pencil mark that was put on as a guide as to the bisecting and handstamping of the provisional surcharge. A diagonal crease doesn't detract. Fine appearance. Scarce stamp; just one sheet of 60 issued (120 stamps). Opinion: Holcombe (1996) Gi = £ 1'200.
