Palestine Forerunners Russian Post - Top Rarity. Postcard mailed from Odesa Russia (in Ukraine today) to Jerusalem 23.6.1914 with additional Russian transit p/m 25.6.1914. The card arrived in Jaffa where 2k overprinted 10 Para Russian stamp added tied by Jaffa p/m 10.7.1914 (Steichele p/m type 636) & forward to Jerusalem where arrival postmark added 18.7.1914. Only few such cards known to be forwarded with Russian stamps in the Holy Land during the Ottoman period. The postcard was sent to David Yelin who was the head of the school for teachers in Jerusalem. The Hebrew message on back read as follows: Dear Mr. Yelin, Shalom..I am here to inform you of the requests to enter the general teaching year in the school which is under your supervision. Is 300 Rupies will be enough per year for my food ? If there is specific program, please send it to me to the below address. With respect..S. Oshlovitz, This card with 2 filing holes at bottom.
