 Lot 182 - united states classic head half cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841828 C-3 R1 PCGS graded MS63 Red & Brown. 13-Star Obverse. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown and light chocolate with more than a third of the mint color remaining. The only marks are a small patch of very fine carbon at the dentil tips left of star 6, a small scuff of very light contact marks over the 8 in the date, and a dull nick on the left top of the T in CENT. None of these marks is distracting and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent. MDS, Manley state 3.0, with delicate die clashmarks on both sides. The surfaces are smooth and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent. Very close to VF30. The only marks are a small spot of darker toning in the field right of star 4 and a shallow rim bruise over the M in AMERICA. LDS, Manley state 3.0, with clear die clashmarks between the last 1 in the date and the curls above. A bit softly struck on the left edges of both sides, as always on this variety, thanks to non-parallel die faces. A very nice example of this tough date. Frosty steel brown and light chocolate with very slightly darker chocolate brown toning between stars 4-7 and the dentils. No defects, only the lightest touch of friction on the highest points of the devices. Nicely struck MDS with the reverse rotated 50 degrees CCW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation.
