PAPAL STATES: Innocent XI, 1676-1689, AE medal, ND, see Miselli-238 (96-97mm), 90mm, uniface medal, gilt, bust of the Holy Father with Cammauro, Mozzetta and ornate stole left INNOCENTIVS. XI. P. O.M. The medal is glued into a red and gold painted wood frame of several parts shaped into the Papal crest which consists of papal tiara with crossed keys above shield with garland below. Mount on back for hanging and very old looking hand written tag with name of Pope and dates of rule, a very attractive and unusual piece! EF, ex Gorny & Mosch Auction 188 lot 5340 where it fetched $475.

Laurens Janszoon Coster claimed to be the inventor of printing or movable type before Gutenburg.
