Obverse: emblem of the Taba exhibition, with Hebrew legend around "National Stamp Exhibition # Haifa 5712 1952". Reverse stamped with the name "Shmuel Lachman" - may be the same person who authored several important articles in the Israeli numismatic world on Ottoman coinage in the 1960's and '70s. This medal was probably issued to participants who exhibited stamp collections at the fair. In UNC-BU; some surface dirt (polish?). Obverse depicts open Torah scroll and reader pointing to the text, with name "Moses Ben Maimon" next to it. On reverse portrait image of Rambam. On rim artist's name and date are etched. This piece appears to be based in part (Rambam's portrait) on an earlier thinner medal produced by Shagin in 1985 for the Sephardic Educational Center in Jerusalem.
