lot # 584 - united states liberty cents
1844 N-3 R2 Repunched 18 MS60. Frosty light reddish steel brown and light chocolate with very faded red showing through in protected areas on both sides. The notable marks are a dark spot on the bottom edge of the inner half of the hair bun, another on the N in UNITED, one more in the leaves under the T in CENT, and a final spot in the dentils at the bottom of the reverse. The only other defect is a faint planchet fissure (as struck) from the lowest curl to the dentils right of star 13. Scarce LDS, die state e, with a strong rim cud from right of star 9 down to the midway point between stars 10 & 11. This strong cud is in addition to the earlier smaller rim cuds from above star 7 to over star 9. Tied for CC#6 of those known with the large rim cud break.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
