Pre-Long Beach Auction #84

1846 N-1 R1 Repunched 18 EF45. Five points sharper but lightly cleaned and nicely retoned frosty steel brown and chocolate with overtones of light bluish steel on the obverse. The only marks are two tiny pinpricks: one at the upper point of star 13 and another at the dentils over star 11, and neither is distracting at all. MDS, die state c, with die cracks on both sides, including a rather strong one from the second A in AMERICA to the adjacent wreath stem. The repunching on the 18 remains clear.
