Panama 1853 (March 15): Prepaid Entire letter from San Francisco to Valparaiso Chile, endorsed "via Panama", presumably by privat transport to Panama, crowned "PAID AT PANAMA" in red on front, double arc "PANAMA AP 8 1853" datestamp in black and negative cachet of the San Francisco Commission House in blue on reverse. Paid with '2/-' sh. in Panama, noted in red crayon on front. A fine cover.

1840/1964: Beautiful collection in four volumes, beginning with a fine section of the 1840 1d black with six four margin copies and a very fine 1d plate 1a lettered DE on cover dated JU 24 1840. The collection also contains a very fine 1840 2d blue, a good run of 1d brown, here with shades, ivory head and other specialities. 1847 1/- green with a block of four! cancelled 466 of LIVERPOOL, with some minor imperfections but a very rare unit....

Scottish Terriers 1944/45: Fine group of six V-Mail photo cards, all depicting Scotties, incl. one Christmas airgraph of R.A.F. Middle East Forces Dec. 29. 1944, four "General Orders Post 5" of which two with the related envelopes dated Feb. 11, March 14 and April 8, 1945 from U.S. Troops in the Pacific back home.

1899: Chester, very fine Victorian stamp box by 'Stokes & Ireland Ltd' marked 'SIL.D' with finely hammered finish all round, leaving Lion Emblem 'UTO POSSIDETIS.' (lit. 'as you possess') free, the hinged lid reveals two gilded sloped compartments. Fine and rare.

1905 ca.: A very fine Williams (Birmingham) Ltd. silver box on ball feet with decoratively embossed sedan chair scenery on the hinged lid at top, opening to two compartments, fine and superb.

1906 Birmingham small vesta and stamp case marked 'W.L.0 (probably William Light of Birmingham) with curlique scrolls and stamp compartment mounted on front, the lift off lid at top attached by a single loop, together with 1915 Birmingham 'A & LL' (Adie & Lovekin) twin-compartment envelope-type stamp case with attractive foliate scrollwork all round and uninscribed cartouche on reverse. A fine and unusual pair.

1906ca.: Small 925 Sterling silver envelope-style stamp case with ring attachment, engraved by floral design on front and reverse together with a 1890ca. Dutch stamp box small two compartment pocket case with hinged lids on opposite sides, each embossed with different rural scene and opening to a single sloped compartments, fine.
