Our next Coins & Banknotes Auction 389 will now take place at 9:30 am on Monday 3rd June, 2024 to Friday 7th June, 2024 and the catalogue is now available to view on-line at www.statusint.com.

This auction is huge with 4,974 lots catering for all types of collectors with varying types of interests and budgets. There are many desirable single items as well as collections and mixed lots. This catalogue contains a great selection of Australian coins including Australian Shipwrecks, Adelaide Pound , Dumps , Proclamation coins, Gold Sovereigns and Half-Sovereigns, pre-decimal coins and Proofs, Error Coins, RAM , Perth Mint and NPA products. There are many highlights in the Australian Coins including two Australian 1930 Penny, both are graded in F/VF, Reserved at $19,000 (Lot 11820) and at $18,000 (Lot 11821) . This auction also includes three 1813 New South Wales Dump (fifteen pence) , aVF Reserved at $7,500 (Lot 11502) , also one in Fine, Reserved at $ 4,200 (Lot 11503) and one at G, Reserved at $2,800 (Lot 11504). Also huge range of Australian Half-Sovereigns and Sovereigns (Lots 11509 - 11747) with many highlights of Rare and high grade examples. Also almost complete collection of Australasian Tradesman Tokens including many rare pieces , (Lots 12170 -12613).

This auction includes a rare £10 Riddle-Heathershaw Last Prefix U/4. aU. R-55L cat $25,000. Rare this nice. Reserved at $12,000 (Lot 12939). Also a £1 Collins-Allen The National Bank of Australasia S330977 Melbourne. Superscribed note number L 438025 1 Dec 1910. aF, has been flattened but no tears or pinholes. MVR-S50c. Very Scarce Reserved at $4,500 (Lot 12880) . 

Great range of World coins and banknotes, including Gold, silver and copper coins, medals and World Banknotes. In the Proclamation Coins is a Brazil: 1732-R Joao V (1706-1750), gold 12800 Reis ('Johanna' = Dobra), 2nd type with decorative italic shield, with 1st bust design, Fleur-de-Lis over diagonal edge, Rio de Janeiro mint. 28.74g. KM-148. Nice gEF, slightly weak obv strike but hardly any wear. Impressive short lived large size issue. All examples from Rio de Janeiro being much scarcer than from Minas Gerais, and as they have distinctly different shield design so the difference is not merely the mint (lot 11390) Reserved at $8,500. 

Also in the World Gold (Lots 13061 - 13234) is a Austrian 1908 Franz Joseph gold 100 Corona, 60th Anniversary of Reign 1848-1908, with 'Lady in the Clouds', Kremnitz mint. 33.93g. Fr-514, KM-2812. Graded PCGS AU55, quite brilliant with prooflike appearance of reverse fields. A majestic design often regarded as the most iconic 20th century European gold coin . (Lot 13061 ) Reserved at $8,500. Also a great range of 14th -18th Century France Gold Coins (Lots 13093 -13112). 

The world silver coins inclused a New Zealand 1935 KGV Waitangi Crown. Proof. Near full brilliance with only a couple of minor surface mks. aFDC. KM-6. Rare (Lot 13920) Reserved At $6,000. 

Included in the World Banknotes section is in China People's Bank: 1 Jiao to 100 Juan 1980. Specimen set. All with JY 00000000 serial number, set No. 340 in official cloth bound album. P-881S, 882S, 883S, 884S, 885S, 886S, 887S, 888S, 889S. UNC. Very rare. (9). (Lot 14241) Reserved at $16,000). Also in The Republic of China, Central Bank 10 Cents ND (ca 1925) unsevered pr without serial numbers, vertical format aUNC Ex Spink HK auction CS539 Lot 1321 estimated KH $75,000-$100,000 (A$14,500-$19,500). A VF single note sold at Yangming Auction Co, Shanghai, in their 2015 Winter Auction, Lot 1030 for RMB36,800 = A$7800. . Pick not listed aUNC. Extremely rare, especially as a pr. (Lot 14230) Reserved at $5,000.

Also there is a Ukraine: 1942 ZWEI KARBOWANEZ (2 karbovanets) lilac & grey-violet, Young boy with fur cap, 'Zentralnoten Bank, Rowno, 10 Marz 1942', 9-digit s/n, wmk zigzag knot. This note was unissued as most of the stock of notes was destroyed when the train carrying them from Germany was attacked by Ukrainian partisans. SB-1262. P-50 cat US$3500 for VF & US$5000 for UNC. 2022 Ceremuga certificate of authenticity. Graded PMG 58 'Choice about UNC', as it is fresh condition with unusually nice colors, only 1 central fold & sharp corners. Extremely rare as only tiny number recorded, especially in high . (Lot 14410) Reserved at $5,000.
