1851-56 BAYERN INCOMING MAIL , Franklin issue 1c. blue(2) horizontal pair type II, stamps cut into, slightly toned otherwise fine, tied by "NEW ORLEANS FEB 3"cds. 2c TRANSATLANTIC PRINTED MATTER rate, endorsed ms "imprimé" (Drucksache) and French transit postmark applied twice in red and in black "Etats-Unis Paq. Brit. A. Calais M 25.Fevr.56" to Augsburg, Bavaria. Upon arrival charged with "7" Kreuzer.

The Fulton sailed on her first voyage on February 9, 1856, as a transatlantic mail steamer for Havre Steam Navigation Company, transporting passengers, cargo, mail, and specie between her home port of Southampton, New York, to Liverpool, England and Le Havre, France.
