1846 1d. red-brown, lettered M-L, Plate 69, used as single franking on folded letter from Cupar, Scotland to Falkirk in 1848, tied by Scottish numeral "92" (Cupar-Fife), with red ornament handstamp "TOO LATE" (earliest Scottish type) alongside, despatch, transit and arrival datestamps on the reverse. The 1d. adhesive pays the "Too Late" charge only, the postage way paid in cash. Dr. Knopke certificate.
