Ceylon, 1859, 9 pence purple-brown, imperforated with full to wide margins all around, VERY FINE and neatly cancelled by oval of bars in BRIGHT RED. This scarce stamp is UNIQUE WITH A RED CANCEL. The Ceylon stamps of 1857-1871, were all supposed to be cancelled in black, only about 20 such exceptionnal cancellations in red are recorded in total, including this unique SG Nr. 8.
