1896 Registered cover from Port Louis to a Chinese in Calcutta, franked on the reverse with 1885 2c. green tied by "PORT LOUIS MAURITIUS/A/AU 21/96" cds, "R" in oval, oval "REGISTERED MAURITIUS/No.../21 AU 96" d/s, empty oval h/s and red sender chop alongside, Tuticorin transit cds and Calcutta 2nd Delivery '8 Sep 96' arrival cds on front. The adhesive (used like a seal) was damaged when letter was opened, but nevertheless and interesting and unusual registered cover.
