1877 Entire letter from Guayaquil (dated '24 Feb 1877') to France by French steamer via Panama, with British Post Office Guayaquil date stamp (25 Feb) on the reverse, endorsed 'via Panama & St Nazaire' with hand-struck 'PANAMA/28 Feb 1877/TRANSIT' on front, sent on the French paquebot "Layfayette" with octagonal "PANAMA PAQ. FR. A No 3/3 Mars 77" datestamp in red (Salles 1413) on face, Tax hand-stamp 'T' and rated '15' on arrival, and with Paris/Etranger arrival '28 Mars 77' in blue on reverse. Lovely item from the British Consultant in Ecuador.
