1854: 1 d. red-brown, Die I, Alphabet II, perf. 16 on three sides, with "PERF. 7" variety on the left, due to missing pins, tied by BRISTOL FE 3 1855 sideways duplex to entire letter to Ireland. Very rare perforation variety, with just fifteen covers recorded in the Karl Louis card index, three of which were despatched from Bristol in early February 1855. One of the finest recorded covers with this variety Gi = £850 for single.
