Corinphila Auction 291-297 Day 3

1866 (Aug 17): Unpaid entire letter from Pondichery to London endorsed "par Bombay Steamer", struck on despatch with "INDE / PONDICHERY" despatch cds in black, struck presumably in Bombay with rare usage of framed "FR. / 2F 55c." Accountancy handstamp in black (Salles fig. 3092, Van der Linden fig. 1270). Carried by the P&O steamer "Delhi" from Bombay to Suez and thence on the "Masilia" from Alexandria with entry marking in red (Sept 18), charged "6" pence due on arrival in London (Sept 21).
