The long two-side letter written by the leading political caricaturist of the period Charles Philipon (1800-1861), who depicted politicians as pears 'comme des poires'. He is at a turning point in his career: his famous journal La Caricature has been forced to close by the 1835 Press Laws and he is looking for subscriptions to launch new ventures detailed in the letter.
