Chalons 1879: 6 d. yellow-green, a used example on underpaid 1879 cover to Ohs Bruk, Sweden endorsed "via Brindisi", tied by Brisbane obliterator with cds adjacent (Dec 8). Framed "INSUFFICIENTLY PAID / VIA. BRINDISI" at left (rate should have been 9d.). Carried by the Eastern & Australian Mail to Singapore and thence by French Paquebot "Peiho" to Naples. Listed in the Ben Palmer census on page 274 - just 6 covers are recorded to Sweden between 1869 and 1890. Rare and most attractive.rnrnProvenance: Christie's, London, 24 May 1995, lot 793.
