1857 (Jan.): 4 d. rose-carmine, white paper, wmk. Large Garter, perf. 14, used on a cover, London to Paris, dated 16 December 1857, tied by the Pearson Hill Experimental second Trial Machine cancel in black (Dubus 2), Machine 'A', Code 'A', with a Calais transit datestamp in black (Dec. 17) and 'PD' oval in red alongside. To the back an offset strike of the Trial cancel and a Paris arrival in black (Dec. 17). A fine example. Rare; only  four known foreign destination examples.
