1856 (Nov 1): 1 s. green, plate 1, wmk. Emblems, perf. 14, Wing margin left, used on cover, from London to Paris, France, dated 29 October 1859, tied by the Pearson Hill Parallel Motion Second Machine Trial '4' duplex in black, Type 4-II, Code 'B', with Calais transit in black and 'PD' in oval in red alongside. To reverse a faint Paris arrival in black (Oct 30). Vertical and horizontal filing creases well clear of adhesive which has a rounded corner top right. A scarce example. Comes on a page with another example of the same Second Machine '4' cancel on a 1 d. red and two further album pages, one with two covers of the same franking but cancelled by the Type 4-V Second Machine Trial cancel. The other page with two single 1857 1 d. reds (SG 40) with fine strikes of the oblitorator '4' barred oval Type 4-IV. Rare; two of three examples known. A scarce group.
