lot # 7001 - syrien vorphilatelie
Syria under Egyptian administration, Ibrahim Pasha period, 1835 (July 2): Entire letter written in Italian from the consular agency of Tuscany in Beirut to that in Malta, a crisp seal handstamp of the Berutti consul on reverse closing the entire, transported to Livorno and disinfected, struck on reverse with two-line framed "LAZZARETTO SAN / ROCCO DI LIVORNO", closed after disinfection with indistinct "LAZZARETTO DI S. ROCCO" wax seal (both in Meyer - Disinfected Mail on page 189). Further journey to Malta, presumably by Tuscan vessel, handwritten arrival note Feb 2, 1836 inside. A most interesting entire.
