lot # 6099 - Hong Kong
1917 (Nov 30) Hong Kong locally used Temporary PO cover,f.w. KGV 4c, tied by rare purple "St Andrew's Fair" cds. The Scottish Commmity organised a Fair for the war charities in the St. Andrew's Church at that date and the HK post office set up a temporary post office there for that special event, also provided a special souvenir chop on all the letters which sent by this post office. Most of the St. Andrew's cover were found in philatelic usage in the market. This cover was really been posted and sent to the local address. A Dated postmark (Dec 2) and a small black postman chop was strike alongside which proved that this cover had bean transfer by the post office. Cover is bit aged toned but one of the very scarce HK philatelic postal history. This special cancellation was used only in one day and very few postal used cover was recorded. Rare.
