FILIPINAS. 1842. Opium War. Entire letter from MADRID to MANILA with Madrid cds and FRANCO in red; addressed to one Ernest Mouchy on board the corvette ´La Favorite´ att Manila. Struck on arrival with superb oval framed FILIPINAS / Marzo 31 1843 handstamp in black. Readdressed to Batavia with oval ANJER / ZEEBRIEF unpaid handstamp in black and charged ´60´ cents due upon receipted - also docketed ´Deboursé le 10th Avril´ in manuscript at right. One of very few known entires documenting the French Naval presence during the Opium War 1840-42 period. An attractive and VERY RARE entire.
