Kangaroo 5s. Grey & Yellow with YELLOW PORTION DOUBLY PRINTED - DOUBLY PRINTED FRAME PLATE variety with the second printing of frame plate 8mm below the first (SG30a., Brusden White 43c. Catalogued AU$9,000), fine colour part CDS used, small repaired tear at top. Take a close look - observe the additional solid yellow frameline crossing just above the Kangaroo's head. Note the extended side frame lines N.W. & S.W. plus shadow part frameline N.E. See the shading to left of the Kangaroo's head plus the outline of Australia emerging by the final 'S' of Shillings and running through the white base border. Extremely rare, Brusden White states only eight other used examples without 'OS' perfin recorded, two of them being in the Royal Collection. Rarer than the Kangaroo 3d. Dull ultramarine watermark inverted (SG catalogued £14,000=) that realised £5,000= some years ago. BW Catalogued AU$9,000 - c. GBP£4,700=). RARE outside of the Royal Collection.
