The obverse details are slightly better with the date and LIBERTY strong, but the reverse is a bit weaker, as usual. Nice glossy chocolate brown and steel. Ten points sharper but cleaned and retoned glossy reddish chocolate brown and dark steel. The obverse is perfectly smooth but extremely faint granularity covers most of the reverse, strongest at the F in OF and just left of the fraction. A dull rim nick opposite the chin is the only significant contact mark. LDS, Breen state V. The die cracks at the lower curls are strong and the swelling between the cracks is advanced.  Lot 348 - united states draped bust cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841798 S-169 R3 G6 but Counterstamped. Glossy medium chocolate and olive with smooth, attractive surfaces. No defects, but there is a large counterstamp covering nearly the entire head of Ms. Liberty. The stamp is a large raised "T" inside an incuse heart, and the style appears to be quite old. Unlisted in Brunk and the first example of the counterstamp seen by this cataloger.  Lot 311 - united states draped bust cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841796 S-103 R4+ LIHERTY Obverse VG8. Sharpness near VF20 but covered with uniform fine to moderate granularity on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. No marks or verdigris. Dark steel and olive brown with glossy lighter chocolate and steel brown toning on the highpoints. The bottom edge of the date is a bit weak due to an uneven strike on that side but the rest is clear and the legends are complete. The LIHERTY error is bold, the B over inverted B feature being obvious to the unaided eye. A decent example of the rarer version of this popular "Redbook" error. Sharpness VF35 or slightly better but there are some light contact marks on the rims on both sides, none significant but too many to ignore at this sharpness level. The notable ones are an irregular rim nick under the left base of the 1 in the date, a light rim bruise over the R in AMERICA, and a tiny rim bruise just right of the fraction. Glossy chocolate brown and steel. LDS, Breen state V. The internal cud break behind the head is strong and a fine vertical crack reaches from the dentils off the bust tip to the dentils right of the Y. Noyes graded EF40 net VF30 and tied for CC#15, his photo #56587. Removed from an NGC slab graded AU53 (NGC label #508671-001 included, and it shows the attribution and Rasmussen provenance). Glossy medium steel brown and light chocolate with traces of lighter brown toning in protected areas. No roughness or verdigris, only light contact marks. The only notable marks are a very light rim bruise under the lowest curl and a dull rim nick at IC in AMERICA, and neither mark is distracting. M-LDS, Breen state IX, with a strong cud break connecting TE in STATES to the rim with a slightly raised retained cud break affecting the adjacent TA. Very shallow low spots cover the field around the leaves under MERICA. A nice example of a neat die state. Removed from a PCGS slab graded VF30 (PCGS label #1431.30/04143203 included). Sharpness VF25 but there are a couple dull dents inside the wreath and the planchet is slightly warped. In addition the field before the portrait has been lightly smoothed for some reason that is not apparent. Cleaned and retoned frosty dark steel and olive brown. Sharp but far from choice. LDS, Breen state VI, with all the die cracks and crumbling associated with the late die state. Sharpness VG8 but faint granularity covers the fields and protected areas on the obverse while the reverse shows light corrosion mixed with several shallow pits. Specks of greenish verdigris can be found in may of the pits. The only obvious mark is a rim dent opposite the tip of the nose. EDS, Breen state I. The reverse is upset (dies oriented head-to-head) as often seen on this rare variety. Slightly glossy reddish chocolate brown and steel with lighter steel brown toning on the devices.
