Lot 1942 - trinidad and tobago - Auktionshaus Christoph Gärtner GmbH & Co. KG 36th International Auction- part 1- coins & banknotes1 Dollar ND(1905-26) uniface Proof P. 1p. This highly rare note and one of the first issues of Trinidad & Tobago was formerly part of the American Bank Note Company Archives. This example has been used for pre-issuing tests. It was formerly attached to a paper (which is also part of this lot) on which is written "Section of proposed note treated with carbolic" on upper border and "Section of proposed note treated with creosole" at lower border by security printer. This writing tells about the tests that were made with this example to show the effects of different fluids on the paper and color of the note. This is why the note was cut in 3 pieces: The left half of the note is original, untreated. The second part is the upper right quarter of the note, the third part the lower right quarter of the note. One can see the different fadings of color as an effect of the treating. All 3 pieces were put together with tape on back again after the testing of the note. A rare piece of Trinidad banknote history, maybe unique. Rare. Auktionshaus Christoph Gärtner GmbH & Co. KG 36th International Auction- part 1- coins & banknotestrinidad and tobago |
