1652 Massachusetts Oak Tree Shilling Noe-1 PCGS graded AU58, CAC Approved. Variety with "IN" left of the Oak Tree. Frosty light gray and steel with luster covering the fields and protected areas. Very sharply struck. All the devices are boldly impressed including the finely cut Oak Tree. Just the lightest touch of rub on the highest points of the devices from mint state. This piece would be an unqualified gem except for a mint-made planchet void affecting the N in "IN" and the opposing D in "DOM." Intermediate die state. Struck with the obverse die very slightly off center to K-1 and the reverse off a similar amount to K-9. This example has details as bold as the finest example in the Ford collection and superior to any of the Hain pieces. Listed on page 39 in the "Redbook." Weight shown as 71.6 grains on the PCGS label. Population 1; none finer at PCGS. Estimated Value $10,000-UP.
